xakara Monday Wordcount: More than before.
This is significant in that I'm working on four separate projects (still don't know how that happened) and any progress is good.
My ramble question is when is it too many things at once? I keep trying to decide which thing to put down and put off until NaNoWriMo but I have a 5th idea for NaNo which just sounds insane. So, how many irons in the fire are just this side of too much?

I have two novels, a novella and one project I haven't nailed down yet which could be either. In my defense, one of the novels is book two of Bloodsprite, so writing it is easiest and literally something I can do in my sleep as I've dreamt of several scenes. The second project is book one in the Angelic Prophecies and won't leave me alone every time I try to put it down; so I can't get lower than two simultaneous projects.
The novella is simply one I'd like to get done and submitted to my editor so that I know whether or not it's something she wants to work with before we begin edits in November. Once I know that, I can apply what I learn in edits to the new novella, and the novella that's pending as well as the one coming out in February (and the other two I have started but unfinished).
The undefined project is one I was considering offering in installments on the website. It's a retelling of the Arthurian myth as a m/m/f/f/m poly-romance. Yeah, couldn't walk away from that one. Didn't know if I could ever find someone willing to put a publishing label on it, but I thought it might be enjoyed by those waiting for Bloodsprite to find an agent and for Shifting Passions to come out in February.
Everything seems vital and important and needing to be done right now. I was able to talk myself into waiting on six other projects but these four all clumped up together and won't let go. What do you all do when you think faster than you type? Obviously my personal prioritizing system isn't good enough to break down these four projects back to only two.
To my credit, I have it all scheduled out to what gets written on which days and how to wade through it. So I'm crazy, but not truly insane. :)

Moments like these are why writers drink.
If I had a better tolerance I'd give it a try.

Date: 2007-09-13 11:25 pm (UTC)Funny thing is I'd likely write more then I do if I wasn't already overworking the beta readers I have. The more I edit the more driven I am to create. Ain't that scary?

I'd much rather be doing three things during NaNo, than editing late. Hell, I'm already starting base style edits, just so it goes smoother when it comes time to work with her.
And editing always makes me want to write. Editing Bloodsprite led to ten pages of notes on Chimera alone and I don't know how many on Blood Queen. So I get it.
