Thursday Thirteen 22nd Edition
Jan. 10th, 2008 12:28 amHello Kittens,
I'm in a reflective mood right now, not to mention exhausted, so things shall be short and sweet. This section is short, the list is sweet. I know that many of us don't have enough money to get everything we want done for ourselves, let alone for other. Fortunately advertisers want our attention so badly that they're willing to d something good to get it. There are several sites that will let you click on a button daily, and for each click their sponsors donate for you. And if you actually buy some of the things offered they donate even more. So I offer you this Thursday, 13 Charity Sites Where A Click Makes A Difference.
Enjoy and give a little time so others can enjoy their lives as well.

13 Charity Sites Where Your Clicks Make a Difference
1. The Breast Cancer Site.com ~ One of the first click-to-donate sites I ever found and one I trust completely. For those with money to spend they have some wonderful items to show your support for the cause.
2. The Hunger Site.com ~ A partner of the first six I list, it is one I'm also familiar with and use regularly.
3. The Rainforest Site.com ~ This site has some of the best gift items for those who want their purchases to have real meaning when they give a birthday or holiday gift.
4. The Literacy Site.com ~ As a writer, literacy is close to my heart. I click regularly and have my eye on a few items here. Among them a great Tshirt that says: Life is Simple. Eat. Sleep. Read.
5. The Animal Rescue Site.com ~ All of you animal lovers should rush here if you don't visit regularly already. You can not only save animals for free, but when you are ready to spend money, you can deck out yourself and make your pet happy with gifts that really matter.
6. The Child Health Site.com ~ I am one of the millions of Americans without health insurance and I know how tough that is. I can only imagine what it's like in less developed countries. More than 657,000 children were helped in 2007, be a part of making it 1 Million children in 2008.
7. The Environment Site.org ~ This site is new to me, as are all of those below. Yet I'm ready to give them a try and hope that you are too.
8. The Stop HIV Site.com ~ A simple site that's still growing. But it doesn't need to be fancy to be helpful.
9. Ecology Fund.com ~ A gorgeous site that allows you to click on several charity sites to save land, animals, oceans, clean air, and more.
10. Race for the Oceans ~ This site is wonderful and will give you access to 11 sites in total. It's one of my new favorites over all, and Ocean wildlife will benefit from this particular link.
11. Race to Stop Global Warming ~ A click here offsets one pound of carbon emissions a day. Come on, you're on the computer anyway, it's the least you can do.
12. Race for the Big Cats. ~ With so much in the news about Tiger attacks and such, I don't want the negative press to distract folks from the fact that these animals are endangered. They were in areas to attack people because we took them out of their natural habitat for personal gain. Helping them is the least we can do despite the issues in the current media.
13. Race to Stop Violence ~ As I started with a women's issue, (although I don't forget the men who have had breasts cancer) I end with one. This is a site dedicated to saving women around the world from violence. If you visit nothing else, please visit this one and make the difference in the life of a woman who will go to bed frightened and hopeless this night.

Date: 2008-01-10 10:17 pm (UTC)As for the tigers, I thought part of the problem is that we're chasing them out of their habitat and taking the land over for ourselves. One thing I learned on my Yellowstone trip was how important it is for us to learn to live with nature and to quit turning it into manicured lawns.
I'll hop off my soapbox before I work up a head of steam.
Happy TT! Hope the writing's going well!

Re: http://kellymccrady.blogspot.com
Date: 2008-01-11 06:08 am (UTC)And I completely agree. It's exactly what I was talking about when I said we've removed them from their habit for personal gain. We expand into their territory and then the only thing we can do is place them in zoo and sacntuaries because we've destroyed their habitats. We need to not only control overpopulation but exorbitant consumerism that calls for great destruction of resources.
Whoops, look at that, a soapbox of my own materialized beneath my feet. LOL
