This Friday's crush takes us away from character crushes and back to an actor oriented one. That's not to say that there haven't been crushworthy characters in his past. Whether saving the world 4th of July style, selling his services in advising the clueless on how to find true love, scraping out a living to show his son that you can rise from the bottom to succeed at the top, or being the last man on earth desperately searching for a cure, this guy tugs at the heart strings as expertly as he tickles the funny bone. Yes, Kittens, this Friday's Crush of the Week is Will Smith.
This Friday's crush takes us away from character crushes and back to an actor oriented one. That's not to say that there haven't been crushworthy characters in his past. Whether saving the world 4th of July style, selling his services in advising the clueless on how to find true love, scraping out a living to show his son that you can rise from the bottom to succeed at the top, or being the last man on earth desperately searching for a cure, this guy tugs at the heart strings as expertly as he tickles the funny bone. Yes, Kittens, this Friday's Crush of the Week is Will Smith.
I could go on about his albums and his beginnings on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. I could talk about him achieving action hero status in Independence Day and Men in Black(I&II), showing his romantic leading man ability in Hitch, or his dramatic range in Ali and The Pursuit of Happyness. And being one of only three men to have seven consecutive $100mil+ Hollywood blockbusters, (the other two being Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks). But in the end this crush comes out to the simple fact that Will Smith is genuinely funny.
When he's present on screen, in interviews or caught on the red carpet, his joyful and grateful personae shines and draws in everyone watching. There is no false suave. He knows he cleans up well and has a gorgeous family, but in the end he's still that goofy kid who got his break with bubble gum rap that had cross-over appeal. He doesn't take himself too seriously and he doesn't take his career or his status as a role model for granted. That's crushworthy all by itself. So onto the pictures!
