 Hello Lovelies,

I'm still not fully awake and I need to get ready for work, so today will be short. In honor of shortness you're getting what is in truth a character crush that has rubbed off on the actor despite having never seen him in another role. My favorite new must-see show is BBC America's Torchwood, so this Friday's Crush of the Week is Torchwood star, John Barrowman.

The Scottish-American actor John Barrowman has years on British television and in theatre across the UK, but American audiences first became of aware of him as Captain Jack Harkness on the second season of Dr. Who. The character and storyline touched on was so popular that the spin-off of Torchwood was launched to be built around Captain Jack and a secret organization set to protect humanity from the alien born changes of the 21st century.

I could go into several things about Captain Jack, such as his being the first non-heterosexual companion on Dr. Who, or that Torchwood is the first major prime time show to have a cast primarily presented as bisexual with Jack's own pansexuality prominent. But that would somewhat go against the who "short" thing I said was going to happen. So check out the wiki link and learn a bit more about John, Jack, Torchwood and anything else that tickles your fancy. As for me I'm off to work, so onto the pictures.

Enjoy.

As you know I don't know Capt. Jack personally. Yet. But he and his crew are high up on my list. The bisexual thing just kills me. So badly needed so the world can see that yeah, bisexuality is real.

And yeah I stole your smilie habit but sometimes smilies speak better than words.

A smilie habit is a wonderful habit to pick up. Glad to see it passed on. *wink*

As for the rest, you know how I feel so no need to turn a comment into a blog post as I so easily could. *grin*

I like Barrowman's voice. And he is good looking. Reminds me of JFK jr. Did a great musical called "The Fix" in which he played a doomed president's son. I know because I'm a huge fan of someone else in that musical, Philip Quast who was the Australian Javert (Les Miserables musical).

Both men could be able to do wonderful vampire characters IMO:)

Barrowman as a vampire character is indeed something I've thought on as I write the sequel to BloodSprite. But admittedly, there are few people I don't look at with urban fantasy leanings *wink*

X my dear, you know I yield to absolutely no one in my regard for you, your abilities and your opinions... but I have to disagree with you here. I watched Torchwood for the first few episodes, mainly because it was constantly being linked to Dr Who, and BBC America was pimping it relentlessly, but I found both the show and the characters utterly insufferable! So much we do agree on, but there's a big gulf here!

I don't mind that you don't like Torchwood. What we give our time to is very personal and it makes most of us very particular about what we like and what we don't.

It took me about five episodes to lock into Torchwood and it wasn't until after the cross-over episode with Dr. Who that I really became attached to Captain Jack. Considering you only made it through the first few we're not judging on the same criteria.

I didn't watch Dr. Who until the third season with Martha. I would have been fine if it had been cancelled before then because I wasn't attached. It took a good deal of exposure and another reason to watch to really appreciate David Tennant and how much he reminds me of Tom Baker who I grew up on.

Back to Torchwood, I like the fact that the characters are flawed and that it isn't entirely clear that despite doing the right thing that they're doing it the right way. Jack is harsh and arrogant at times and he goes for the final solution much more often than not. But I've played characters like that in rpg so I can appreciate how he got there.

As for the others, perhaps I'll do a post on the show and hit on everyone and what keeps me watching, along with what I'd change if I could.

Thanks for commenting Nicolas.
