Greetings Kittens,

Between the release of SHIFTING PASSIONS two days ago and my edits on BLOODSPRITE and THE WAY TO A DRAGON'S HEART, I've been thoroughly immersed in my Therian World these last several days. And where I go, ultimately, I bring you along. It's a bit of cheating on my part. Thursdays are research and TT days with no writing, but I was recovering yesterday and didn't get to play in my world at all, this gives me a chance to sneak a visit while still sticking to my schedule. So I bring you, 13 Facts About My Therian World.

Enjoy.

13 Facts About My Therian World Series

1. Shape-Shifters are the dominate preternatural community and are known across the board as Therians.

2. All preternaturals live out in the open alongside humans.

3. Faced with the threat of preternaturals taking over smaller, less developed countries and warring with their neighbors, the United Nations Security Council formed the Preternatural Security Force.

4. The PSF consists of multi-national Enforcer Agents of preternatural descent alongside government-enhanced humans. Enforcer Agents do everything from bodyguard duty to retrieval and assassinations details on "foreign soil".

5. Preternaturals are governed by private preternatural leadership and federally recognized preternatural leaders.

6. Therians have the equivalent of a House of Representatives on the federal level. Their state-level affairs are run by a Quinquiverate (Quin-Q's) that consists of five council members, chosen by the five largest populations in a gathering of territories.

7. All non-preternatural leadership is recognized as The Mortal Authorities, which has limited purview over preternatural affairs.

8. Vampires are the second dominate preternatural community.

9. The two primary groupings for vampires are Fangs and Thorns. It is a difference of ideology that separates them and several smaller groups that fall inbetween the two also exist.

10. Vampires and Therians once had a symbiotic relationship that devolved to a parasitic one after the Black Plague devastated the human populace and threatened the vampiric food supply. A tenative but growing trust exist between them to date.

11. Fae of various types and lineages exist as well, but the borders of Fairie have been closed for more than a century. Fae citizens are fewer and farther between than any other preternatural population, but Fae-Blooded citizens (those with Fae ancestry) are the most prevelant as the Fae are cross-fertile with all known species.

12. Near Humans are product of Fae/Human cross-breedings, but the term has also come to apply to humans with any visible trait of Therian, Vampire, or other preternatural ancestry.

13. Sect ~ 1)The political name for a group of Therians. 2) Any grouping of Packs, Prides, Pods, Pucks, etc, working on a cohesive level, or living within a singular territory. 3) Any group of preternaturals working in concert under a single leader or recognized co-leaders.

Bonus: BloodSprites ~ Specific breed of Vampiric Fae able to subsist on blood alone when necessary. It is rumored that they can bestow immortality with their blood, but unlike true vampires they cannot change another with blood exchange, nor do they become "Sun-sick" when exposed to unfiltered daylight.

The Gal Herself from One Gal's Musings

Do you know Susan Helene of the West of Mars blog? Her imaginary heavy metal is called Shape Shifter. That's one of those phrases that you can go days without hearing, and now here it is, twice in one day. (Yes, it's a geeky observation, but since you're a writer I thought you might enjoy word-based geeky observation.) 7 and 8 on your list really interest me because for some reason I find the Moral Authority more menacing than the Vampires. (Thanks for visiting my TT)

I know Susan! And I appreciate word-based geeky observations. In fact this is the third time I've got to use this phrase today "Geek Love is True Love"! :)

Thanks for the return visit.

Wow! Your world is a lot like the Otherworld at the Bar Story. The Bar is a paranormal serial story I write with 7 others (including MEN) in a message board forum. It's a very intricate world with a lot of characters from vamps to dragons to weres to the fae. Very involved, but fun! Come on by if you're interested in reading or participating!

Thanks for coming by my TT!

Nothing new under the Sun. People with the same God are their worst enemies, due to the battle for money (selling), wealth (enjoying) and power (ruling).
I say no more.

And this was just the first 13 things off the top of my head and not what I consider the nitty-gritty, like how the communities work and how the Breeds interact. Makes the inside of my head all scary-interesting soundin' don't it? *Grin*

Yay, you love it. Here's hoping that satisfied to the end. (An end I know came to soon, the continued complaint I'm getting is that it was too short, but there's more, I promise).

And I checked my header folder and it IS my header. I'm so glad you liked it. LOL

Ooo, another one. You're on. New eyes without any biase of prior information will be a great asset. In the edits I want to know that I haven't eliminated too much necessary information in the attempt to avoid the dreaded info-dump.

I'll hold you to it in a week or two! :)
