After all my work this week on edits I thought I'd try something new and dive into the Thursday Thirteen for the first time. As I've been doing nothing but listening to music to put me in the mood (except for yesterday which was detrimental, *naughty novelist*), my playlist and the artists that make them up are greatly on my mind. So here's my first foray into:

Great list! You have very eclectic tastes. So do I. Have you heard Maroon 5's new album. Ick! I only like one track. Songs About Jane was much better.

Happy TT!

You listen to some great music, X!!!

Yes, once you've gotten sleep, DO come back over to West of Mars and check Trevor out. He's priceless. I suspect you'll dig him.

As for the edits, yay that they're done! What next?

I mostly use film sound tracks and instrumentals to write to because otherwise the style of the lyricists structure tends to creep into how I'm writing.

It's always great to be reminded of music isn't it?

I've had a great time all day bouncing around my mp3 list as different things came to mind.

And I swear, Serbia came up in conversation twice for me today. :)

You gotta love Alanis. There's so much there to love. *grin*

Thanks for the welcome.

As for the visit to your blog...Summer of '69 has been in my head all day. So the pleasure was mine. :)

I admit, "eclectic" is the only word to encompass my taste in music. :)

I might have to do three weeks of TT as the 1)Top, 2)Mid, and 3)Bottom 13 of my most played songs to show the real range of some of my playlists.

I agree with you on Maroon 5's It Won't Be Soon Before Long. I was so disappointed after how good Songs About Jane was, that I couldn't even buy the second album. I'd borrowed it, listened, and gave it back without comment. :(

Thanks for the thumbs up on my music. I deeply love what music can do to my mood and creative spirit.

I've written some great things from a single line of a song. Some scandalous things, but some great things. :)

I'll be back to check out Trevor later tonight or tomorrow.

Only my hardcopy edits are done, I have to finish putting in all my notes from the hc edits before I can just sit back and wait for my critiques to come back.

Not that I'll get to sit back. I have to work on books 2 and 3 and a side project then. :)

Again I'm glad your charm was recovered. :)

Mmm...distraction. :)

I have a few instrumental moments when I'm writing and need the movement of music with the influence of lyrics, but those are infrequent occurances.

The influence is often what I'm looking for. I want to be placed in a mood so that I can move from that mood into the the mood of the scene. After a few moments, I lose the lyrics anyway and just keep going with the scene.

Although I also split the difference at times and listen to songs with lyrics I don't understand. Enya comes to mind, Dead Can Dance as well. And we can't forget about Gregorian Chant now. :)

One of the best things about T13 is finding out things I didn't already know. I love Alanis, but I am not familiar with most of these performers. I'll save this list and check them out next time I access I-tunes!

I love introducing folks to new music as much as I love discovering it.

Thanks for coming by.

Thanks for stopping by my first TT! I love Alanis but haven't listened to her lately for some reason. Must rectify that!

Thanks for swinging by my first one as well.

But you forgot to leave your name!

Enjoy Alanis, she's gotten me through the last chapter of edits all on her own.
