Thursday Thirteen
Aug. 16th, 2007 03:40 amAfter all my work this week on edits I thought I'd try something new and dive into the Thursday Thirteen for the first time. As I've been doing nothing but listening to music to put me in the mood (except for yesterday which was detrimental, *naughty novelist*), my playlist and the artists that make them up are greatly on my mind. So here's my first foray into:

Re: Great List!
Date: 2007-08-16 08:57 pm (UTC)I might have to do three weeks of TT as the 1)Top, 2)Mid, and 3)Bottom 13 of my most played songs to show the real range of some of my playlists.
I agree with you on Maroon 5's It Won't Be Soon Before Long. I was so disappointed after how good Songs About Jane was, that I couldn't even buy the second album. I'd borrowed it, listened, and gave it back without comment. :(

Date: 2007-08-16 02:51 pm (UTC)Yes, once you've gotten sleep, DO come back over to West of Mars and check Trevor out. He's priceless. I suspect you'll dig him.
As for the edits, yay that they're done! What next?

Date: 2007-08-16 09:03 pm (UTC)I've written some great things from a single line of a song. Some scandalous things, but some great things. :)
I'll be back to check out Trevor later tonight or tomorrow.
Only my hardcopy edits are done, I have to finish putting in all my notes from the hc edits before I can just sit back and wait for my critiques to come back.
Not that I'll get to sit back. I have to work on books 2 and 3 and a side project then. :)

Date: 2007-08-16 09:11 pm (UTC)The influence is often what I'm looking for. I want to be placed in a mood so that I can move from that mood into the the mood of the scene. After a few moments, I lose the lyrics anyway and just keep going with the scene.
Although I also split the difference at times and listen to songs with lyrics I don't understand. Enya comes to mind, Dead Can Dance as well. And we can't forget about Gregorian Chant now. :)
