 All,

It's once again time for Thursday Thirteen. I was originally going to do movie quotes this week but I couldn't get music out of my head, so I went back to the beginning. Yes, Kittens, we're touching on my playlists again and this week is 13 of my favorite unreleased or underplayed songs. The first title of it was "Favorite B-Sides", but I realized that most my age and younger wouldn't properly remember what a B-Side once was. *grin*

So here you have it, my unappreciated musical loves. It was so hard to choose just 13, but alas, thus is the name of the game. They are laid out as Song Title, Artists, Album, and Lyrics that you may listen, learn and most of all...Enjoy.

13 Favorite Unreleased or Underplayed Songs

The title links are to YouTube vids so you can listen to the songs. They were chosen for the song and only for the song. I say again Disregard The Video. Anyone who asks me why I chose certain vids will get.... You will notice no explanation with the songs. That's because I lost this entry twice so far and must get it out there while I can. No more time to ramble.

1. Let's Start A Riot ~ Three Days Grace ~ One X ~ lyrics

2. Seduces Me ~ Celine Dion ~ Falling Into You ~ lyrics

3. Eulogy ~ Tool ~ Aenima ~ lyrics

4. Beautiful Disaster ~ Kelly Clarkson ~ Breakaway ~ lyrics

5. Leather ~ Tori Amos ~ Little Earthquakes ~ lyrics

6. Bed of Lies ~ Matchbox Twenty ~ Mad Season ~ lyrics

7. Rest Stop ~ Matchbox Twenty ~ Mad Season ~ lyrics

8. Rose ~ A Perfect Circle ~ Mer de noms ~ lyrics

9. Boadicea ~ Enya ~ Paint the Sky with Stars ~ no lyrics

10. Overjoyed ~ Stevie Wonder ~ Song Review a Greatest Hits ~ lyrics

11. Unsent ~ Alanis Morissette ~ Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie ~ lyrics

12. Gravity ~ A Perfect Circle ~ Thirteenth Step ~ lyrics

13. Right Where It Belongs ~ NIN ~ With Teeth ~ lyrics

It's good to see 'Gravity' and 'Seduces Me' on the list, but I kind of figured I would.

Ah, and 'Rose'. I missed it somehow the first read through.

That was the first APC song that I just loved and had to play over and over...before I fell in love with the rest of their stuff. LOL

So what's playing in my headphones right now? "Halo" by A Perfect Circle. I adore them. "Orestes" is my other fave. They inspire so much awesome dark stuff in my imagination.

Orestes is one of those songs that either sends you running or inspires a great many things in the imagination. Glad to see others who didn't run. :)

Tori is definitely underplayed, even her "hits" don't get the air time they deserve.

And 3DG...I love One X down to a song. I can listen to the whole thing on repeat and not get tired. That's rare, so I'm keeping them. :)

Fingers crossed no film ever gets hold of Boadicea and adds some lyrics to it and ruins a perfect song in the process (not thinking of any Tom Cruise films).

Great list

It's funny you should say that. I first heard Boadicea because of a film. It was the closing credits to Sleepwalkers by Stephen King. (A movie who's ending I really didn't like yet I turn over to see it any time it's on)

Fortunately it was played as is and allowed me to fall in love with the haunting song.

Thanks for coming by.

Hey, X! Why so rushed this week?

Yes, I remember what a B side is. *giggle* But it's sad to realize many people don't, huh?

I know the Tool and the Matchbox 20, but that's about it. Maybe the Three Days Grace. I need to go have breakfast, but hopefully I'll be back to give it a listen and see if I know it.

Have a great (and less rushed) day!

Not hearing the songs would make sense as they were unreleased or under played. Now if it's the bands you don't recognize, then yes, you're not with it. LOL

Seriously though, I listen to so much stuff that I am not the person by which to judge "with-it-ness". I'm not with it, I'm just eclectic and willing to exploit the musical resources of everyone I know! :)

I'm always interested in what captured someone in a song, so providing the lyrics was essential.

Of course my hope is that someone clicks on something, the lyrics resonate, the music resonates and bam, no favorite band to be had. I discover so much music through others and through random events, I always want to pass music on as well.

Matchbox Twenty, great staple band in my collection. I like the earlier albums, but it was Mad Season that sold me on them. Something evident by the two songs above no doubt. *grin*

Wow, music has always been something that really touches me deep. So much to say here… Okay abridged version then.

Okay first of all “Riot” was a song I didn’t hear before, but it rocked. “Seduce Me” was totally romance, Phantom right? The vid I mean. Eulogy…okay I admit it, the vid creaped me out, but that’s okay. The song was…ummm…interesting *grin*. I never watched American Idol, (yes, shocking I know)but wow, Kelly Clarkson has an amazing voice. Well, Tori is uber cool anyway, but this was a song of hers I’d never heard. Nothing is quite as cool as “Leather”. “Bed of Lies” was very sad but nice. “Rest Stop” baby I loves me some good dirty bass heavy funk. I’ve never heard of the band A Perfect Circle, but “Rose” was dark in a good way. Mmmm, Enya, and a song about Boadicea? Now this song is one of the few song I have heard many times before, but I guess I never knew the song title. Isn’t that weird? Oh cool! Another song I know. Stevie writes the BEST lyrics. I can’t listen to “Overjoyed” without dancin’, just not possible. And there’s a man who aged very well. The Alanis vid was sweet in their uncomfortableness with each other. “Unsent” was obviously about letter (s), wow what a great image. “Gravity” had a great bass beat, and sort of a Duran2 tone to the lead singer’s voice. And we end with a bit of NIN. What a way to go out of this great selection of music.

Thanks for all the work you put into this. What an incredible list. And yes, I am old enough to remember the dinosaur days of LPs and "B" sides.

WONDERFUL! Songs by bands you hadn't heard of that touched you. T'was the whole point to all my work. I want to create new fans and let others have the magic moments I have (especially when writing) by introducing songs they may never hear otherwise...

See you and I remember B-Sides, but by the time we were old enough to buy music with our own money they were gone. If not for my mom's love of her records to this day, I'd not have any familiarity with vinyl. To think those just 8 years younger than me have never lived in a world without cds and therefor no alternate side to their music (not counting cd/dvd discs) is mindblowing.

Hey X., it's Cass from the Midnight Moon Cafe. I tried to use that open ID thingie since we are on blogger, but it wouldn't let me use it. Grrr... So then I tried to input my own personal blog ID and that wouldn't work either...

So if you want to see my blog post for today, go to: http://cassandracurtis.com/blog
or check out my group blog at http://midnightmooncafe.blogspot.com

In the meanwhile, I only recognized a couple of those songs, but I am a B-side girl. Remember those very well. LOL

I love Stevie Wonder. My Cherie Amour is one of my favs, as well as Superstition and Overjoyed. :)

Have a Great Day! And forgive my technical ineptness. Me and computers...it's a love/hate thing. LOL

Hey Cass!

Thank you so much for coming by. I'll hit your blog as soon as I'm done replying on mine.

I have no idea why open ID wouldn't be friendly to you. Tink and Nicole have mastered it, everyone should find them and make them explain if they come by this week.

Overjoyed is my all time favorite song by Stevie. He's made some great ones, but whatever he poured into Overjoyed, it resonates with me each and every time it's played. And I'm one of that rare breed that can put a song on repeat and not notice when hours have passed, so I've heard it alot. Still, hands down my favorite to this day.

Off to finish replying so I can come see you.
